Dr. John Grohol has been writing, researching, and publishing in the area of online mental, psychological and human behavior since 1992. He has overseen the development of mental health content for multiple websites over the past three decades, including DrKoop.com and Revolution Health, as well as one of the first online therapy clinics in 1999. Dr. Grohol is a co-founder of the Society for Participatory Medicine and was the founder, CEO, and Editor-in-Chief of Psych Central, the internet’s original mental health website with over 6 million unique users every month. He sold Psych Central to Healthline in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is a tireless patient advocate and believes that the best prescriptions for well-being and happiness are information, empathy, and understanding. He continues to run and oversee My Support Forums.org, a community of self-help support groups for people with mental health and relationship issues, and to talk about psychotherapy.
Dr. Grohol lives north of Boston with his wife and cats.
