John Leguizamo is an actor, writer, and producer. He has starred in several films such as Hangin’ with the Homeboys, Carlito’s Way, and Executive Decision. He has also created the voices for memorable characters in the films Doctor Dolittle and Ice Age.
Born in Botogá, Colombia, John Leguizamo emigrated to the United States as a young child. Without taking his ethnic background too seriously, John Leguizamo takes pride in his Latino heritage. Using his own life experience as a source of inspiration, he wrote and acted in Freak, an Off-broadway production. The show was turned into an HBO film by Spike Lee and won John Leguizamo the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding One-Person Show.
