Suzanne Phillips, Psy.D.

Dr. Suzanne B. Phillips is a licensed Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, Diplomat in Group psychotherapy and Fellow in the American Group Psychotherapy Association. She has been an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Doctoral Program of Long Island University, N.Y. for over 20 years. She is Faculty for the Postdoctoral Programs of the Derner Institute of Adelphi University, N.Y. and Suffolk Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. In the aftermath of trauma and disaster, as co-Chair of Outreach for AGPA, Dr. Phillips has provided direct service to civilians and uniformed responders, trained other professionals, published on bereavement, trauma, uniformed services and couples. In February 2008 she testified before Congress for the needs of military and their families. She has responded nationally and internationally in the aftermath of 9/11; the China Earthquake; the California Fires; the Terrorist Attack in Mumbai, India; the Earthquake in Aquila, Italy; and the Earthquake in Haiti. She is the co-editor with Bob Klein of Public Mental Health Service Delivery Protocols: Group Interventions for Disaster Preparedness and Response and is co-author with Dianne Kane of Healing Together: A Couple’s Guide to Coping with Trauma and Posttraumatic Stress. She writes a blog “ Healing Together for Couples” for Psych Central, a mental health website. She is in private practice in Northport, N.Y.
